CH Highlands Ruffian

Ruffian

(CH Beechcroft Edgewood Tomarc
X Anderscroft Encore)

Ruffian was a very special bitch and a great friend. She was RWB at the PVLRC and 1st JAM at the PLRC.

CH Highlands Plain 'N Fanci

Fanci

(Highlands Regimental Brass
X Grovetons Highland Holly)

Fanci was the reserve major queen —
we lost count enroute to her title. There was so much of her that the judges did not know what to do with her

CH Highlands Moon in Pisces
Gimme a Break

Muffin

(CH Grovetons Lucky Lindy
X Betty Lou)

"Muffin" was our very first champion — owner handled. She was the first dog to receive prostaglandin treatment at the Universtity of Pennsylvania. She was never able to carry a litter to term, which was heartbreaking.

CH Highlands Break of Dawn

Dawn

(CH Coalcreek's Gimme A Break
X Hennings Mills Bixby Kate)

CH. Highlands Break of Dawn (foreground) and Highlands Gimme A Cheer (background). Sisters shown winning the brace class at the WLRC specialty. Dawn was the number one bitch in 1989 and was co-owned with Sharon Grieves of Waggin' Tails, a long time friend.

Late Drink at Lochranza

Otter

(Follytower Sir Ken X Lochranza Aqua Manda)

Chocolate litter sister to our Logan
(CH. Sir Keith of Kimvalley). After her first litter, she was unable to be bred — but was a very pretty girl!

Highlands Egyptian Queen

Gyp

(CH Grovetons Copper Buck Shot
X Sambeau's Cam)

Gyp was pointed, but back then because she was chocolate, had multiple major reserve wins and never gained her AKC title. She won the open Chocolate class at a few specialties and the Veteran's class at MJLRC with a very large entry. She produced three champions, two of them chocolate and was a fun girl to have around.

Sambeau's Cam

Cam

(Black Ho-Beau's Ditto X
Samantha's Secret)

Cam was really not a dog — she was a human in a brown coat with a tail. She had a tremendous vocabulary and could even spell! Part of our hearts went with her when she left this earth — and her place has never been filled. She was one of a kind and was the one who started our involvement with Labs.

Foulby Katie Mullholland

Flo

(Cannonridge Jackdaw X Brenneil Brilliantly of Follytower)

Our sweet Irish lass who left us too soon.

OTCH Highlands
Uptown Girl UDX, JH,
Can CD, CGC, TDI, WC

Quinn

(CH Sir Keith Of Kimvalley
X Highlands Just Jesse)

Quinn lived to over 15 years of age, leaving Carol on March 5th. Quinnie was one of a kind! Everyone who knew her loved her.

CH Highlands

Cali

(CH Highlands Honey Dipper
X Hawkett's Holly Go Litely)

From Highland Kennel's
Web Designer

Highland Kennel is a favorite client — we laugh a lot, share a lot, come up with great ideas together and share a love of animals. I wish everyone clients who are so much fun and rewarding.

Creating this sub-site honoring Highland Kennel's labrador breeding champion history was moving for me. Seeing all the beautiful dogs and reading the testaments to their lives moved me to tears. These dogs are champions; they are also furry friends, as this site shows.

Putting together the pedigree charts, it made me smile to see names reappear. They started to feel like people I knew. He slept with her too, I thought! I wonder if she knew!?

Anyone who loves animals knows how amazing their love is and what a gift it is to interact with them on a daily basis. It's a poignant fact that their life spans are shorter than ours. So naturally a breeding program is going to see lots of animal lives come and go.

The dogs are not just a business; they are living, running, loving beings who shared their lives with Lilian, George and Andre. The responsibility of a business involving animal souls got to me.

I appreciate the glimpse into the impact these beautiful creatures made in the lives of their co-habitators at Highland Kennel. I could feel how they were friends.

This love of animals permeates Highland Kennel at the kennel also. It's a big part of why they are successful.

I'm happy Highland Kennel has honored their past champions here. I honor the love Highland Kennel has given to these beautiful animals. It feels right to give these friends a nod of appreciation for all the joy they brought and continue to bring in memory.
